The organization grew out of the work of Founder and Executive Director Andrea J. Fonte Weaver, who began this work in 1991 while studying sociology and gerontology before completing a master’s degree in intergenerational studies. More than 11,000 older adults and children have been impacted by the relationships they have formed through the Bridges program curricula.
