The fourth community to receive our Community-Wide Intergenerational Leadership Team Grant was trained last week! (Ashland, South Hadley and West Boylston participated in trainings in December.) Barnstable already has a lot going on, intergenerational-wise, but here are some new initiatives that came out of this initial training:
The group broke up into four teams to work on the following IG initiatives:
- An Intergenerational Club, a partnership between Barnstable High School and the senior center
- Summer Reading Club at all village libraries
- A Baking Club
A Pumpkin Patch collaboration between the 4H Club and the senior center
These Community-Wide Intergenerational Leadership Teams are, in essence, the culmination of Bridges Together’s ultimate goals. While people most often know us for the more visible Bridges Program Curricula Suite, our aim is to unite people and organizations and communities for the greater “intergenerational good.” We are so excited about what is happening in the grant-recipient communities – read all about Ashland, South Hadley and West Boylston here.
