Headquartered in Massachusetts, Bridges Together, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to educating, empowering, and connecting generations in order to transform lives today and tomorrow.
The organization grew out of the work of Founder and Executive Director Andrea J. Fonte Weaver, who began this work in 1991 while studying sociology and gerontology before completing a master’s degree in intergenerational studies. More than 13,000 older adults and children have been impacted by the relationships they have formed through the Bridges program curricula. In addition, Bridges Together has trained teachers (preschool thorough high school, as well as college professors), librarians, senior center staff members and other leaders on the need for intergenerational programs and how to create effective ones.
Today, Bridges Together is a robust organization, renowned throughout the nation for pioneering, award-winning work. We offer:
- Off-the-shelf intergenerational programs that support Common Core standards
- Training for professionals in the field who want to develop their own intergenerational initiative
- Online intergenerational how-to guides
