Bridges Together is happy to announce that Ella Houlihan, a senior at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, has been awarded an OMEGA (Opportunities for Multigenerational Engagement, Growth, and Action) Scholarship, sponsored by MIT AgeLab, the New England University Transportation Center and AARP. Ella was nominated by Bridges Together Founder and Executive Director Andrea J. Fonte Weaver, and we were delighted to hear that she was one of three recipients of a $1,000 college scholarship.
In addition to being a founding member of the intergenerational Bridges: Lifelong Journeys club at Lincoln-Sudbury, Ella petitioned the school faculty and administration to incorporate Bridges as an intergenerational wellness class.
In her recommendation letter, Andrea wrote this about Ella:
“When I think of Ella, what comes to my mind is her big smile and bright eyes, warm heart, inclusive nature, commitment to excellence, leadership and vision. These traits have served her well as coordinator and hostess at the MLK Senior Thanksgiving Luncheon where more than 60 students serve more than 120 older adults from town.”
