“Currently, there are many people doing intergenerational work. It’s as if they are singing solos. Through the Symposium, we hope to begin to unite our voices into a strong chorus.”
Bridges Together is excited to announce the Save the Date for our 2018 Intergenerational Symposium: Connecting the Dots at Lasell College on Friday, September 28 from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.
This pioneer symposium will be an energetic and hope-filled meeting for people with all levels of Intergenerational (IG) experience to come together, meet one another, share what they are doing, what challenges they have as well as how they would like to help unify and move this field forward.
Andrea Fonte Weaver, BT’s executive director, has wanted to create an event like this for some time. “In 2017, Massachusetts made amazing strides by being the second state in our nation to join the network of AARP Age-Friendly States. Intergenerational engagement is a critical part of this effort, helping us become not just age-friendly, but age-integrated. There are so many people working to unite generations in silos — so, we are connecting the dots! We hope to bring together attendees from all fields, education, government, corporations, libraries, parks & recreation, families, assisted living & more, to share their experiences and create a plan so that we may collaborate in synergy. We hope you will join us on September 28th!”
We are excited to be collaborating with a strong and diverse planning committee that will bring forth a broad array of viewpoints to ensure that this event can truly “connect the dots”. Registration will open in July with an early-bird rate of $45 until August 28th (breakfast and lunch are included). Please join our mailing list for more information as it’s released and contact Sarah Cavicchi with any questions. Check the event page for more details as they are announced.
