The honest truth on the Matching Campaign

I’m a firm believer in honesty. While I’d love to share inspiring news that we’re close to reaching our Matching Campaign goal, I owe you the true facts. To date, we’ve only reached $2,100.

Here’s the deal. In the spring, the Board of Bridges Together (BT) gathered with a specialist to set a fundraising goal for this year. After careful consideration, an ambitious goal was set: to raise $150,000 by June 30, 2015.

Matching Campaign graphicWhy $150,000? Because $150,000 will allow us to more efficiently train professionals to create intergenerational opportunities in their own communities, in part by adding some part-time staff to BT. This money will also provide the resources to keep the organization running – like maintaining our informational website and covering travel costs to training sessions and conferences– as well as to address the administrative challenges faced by every nonprofit organization. (Feel free to contact me or a board member for more information on this.)

To date, we have raised about $110,000, which is very good news.

Inspired by last year’s very successful Matching Campaign, our board and advisors this year offered to again match any donation that is made from the beginning of October through November 15. The Matching Campaign goal for “outside” donors was set at $5,500– and the the board planned to match every dollar, potentially bringing total contributions up to $11,000. So, we ask for YOUR help.

The work we do is vital to the fabric of our society. There are fewer and few informal, organic opportunities for generations to come together in meaningful ways. BT teaches professionals how to recreate those intergenerational moments. Last year, we trained about 400 people on why we need intergenerational programs and how to create them. Nearly 1,500 children and older adults were involved in BT programs in 10 communities. That’s many, many lives that were touched. So…

  • If you enjoy these newsletters…
