Bridges Together is recruiting for three types of volunteer opportunities.
CLASSROOM OPPORTUNITIES – 1 hour per week for 6 weeks:
Bridges: Growing Older, Growing Together is seeking a few good volunteers, 55 and older, to meet 1 hour per week for 6 weeks with a small group of students from a local public school. Following a tested curriculum, you and a partner will meet each week to share your life experiences with an eager group of students who want to learn from you. These encounters are joyful events for all concerned and have been designed to convey that growing up and growing older are in many ways the same and, yet, are different for each and everyone of us.
- Dalton, MA: Wednesday mornings beginning October 2, 2013. Please contact Mary Lamke at email@example.com. This opportunity is with 6th graders from the Dalton Public School
- Sudbury, MA: Classes will be offered every day of the week beginning October 15, 2013. Please contact SudburyBridges@gmail.com for available days and times that best suit your schedule. This opportunity is with 4th graders from the Sudbury Public School.
Bridges Together Inc. is looking for a college or graduate school intern to assist the Executive Director with daily operations, social media campaigns, and marketing research activities. Other duties, as needed, will include preparing for conferences, helping with publishing materials, and doing outreach. If you have strong verbal skills, write well, have good presentation skills, have a background in either education, gerontology, social entrepreneurship or social work, and enjoy the challenges inherent to an “early-stage” organization; an Internship with Bridges Together could provide you with valuable work experiences to further your career development. Please contact Andrea@BridgesTogether.org to further information.
Bridges Together Inc. continues to look for new board members to share their time, talents, and resources to help grow this “early-stage” organization and to spread its mission. If you have professional experience leading schools, senior organizations, or nonprofits, this may be a worthy volunteer opportunity for you. At Bridges Together Inc., our mission is to promote respect and understanding by bringing children and seasoned adults together to collaborate and to learn from one another. This opportunity would require you to be available either in person or via phone for monthly Board Meetings, to be available to the Executive Director for consultation in your area of expertise, to participate in fundraising when needed, and to serve on one sub-committee. Please contact Andrea@BridgesTogether.org for further details on this volunteer endeavor.
